The basics: camp griddles are made from a camp hickory wicker basket.
The basic cooking process involves soaking the wicker in hot water, adding a little bit of salt, baking it for a couple of hours, and then adding more water.
Once the water has cooled down, it is time to start grilling.
For the last step, the oven needs to be set at 400 degrees.
Then you’re ready to fry the waffle.
I started with a camp waffle made from the same wicker, but with more salt added to the mixture.
It was good, but not perfect.
Instead of just cooking a camp-style waffle, I decided to add in some griddle grease to make it more like a camp fire.
So I did a little cooking and found that it made the waffles more flavorful.
I added some griddled bacon and cooked it over a pan of olive oil for about 10 minutes.
Next up: Grilled bacon, griddled eggs, and a bacon cheeseburger.
That’s right, I just cooked up a camp burger with the camp waffles.
And for the last ingredient: a grilled pork shoulder.
Yes, that’s right.
It’s not just a grilled meat that I used.
This is a camp hamburger, which was grilled in the oven.
The camp burger has a nice crispy exterior.
I really like that it has a little chew.
There is a big fat fat on the outside of the bun, so it’s a nice way to cook it.
As you can see, it’s still a lot smaller than the wagons of the same grill.
But that’s a good thing.
And as always, thanks for reading!
